Thoughts for parts in plots

If doing a plot that goes back into history:
• Start at present day and have some one tell it so that any use of "modern" words to describe "olden" times will not seem out of place.

If doing a plot that includes the times before genetics are understood thoroughly:
• Have a husband and wife that have blue eyes & blond hair produce a child with red hair and golden eyes and problems arising from that when just 9 months before a red haired golden eyed promiscuous man had passed through the town and the husband hadn't been present.

When using a plot that introduces new theories in science not present in the real world:
• Have facts to back the theories up. Same with gods & religions or an introduction of new animals or weather patterns. Otherwise the story will not "ring true".

Grownup Ann says,

I still agree with plot point number 3 - world building is very important and when done poorly can mentally kick you right out of that fantasy world.
